KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi Visits Al-Markaz-ul-Islami for High-Level Talks with Jamaat-e-Islami Leadership

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has visited Al-Markaz-ul-Islami in Peshawar to hold a high-level consultative meeting with the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami.

PESHAWAR – Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi visited Al-Markaz-ul-Islami, the provincial headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Peshawar today, for detailed discussions with the party’s senior provincial leadership. The meeting of the KP governor and provincial leadership of JI focused on the prevailing political dynamics, law and order challenges, and security concerns across the province. Senior figures present included Professor Ibrahim Khan, Naib Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan; Inayatullah Khan, Amir JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North; Abdul Waseeq, Amir JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Central; Abdul Razzaq Abbasi, Amir JI Hazara; Sabir Hussain Awan, General Secretary JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Central; and Vice Amirs Sohaib-ud-Din Kakakhel and Haji Muhammad Aslam.

Rejection of Emergency Rule and Governor’s Rule

Outlining Jamaat-e-Islami’s official stance, Professor Ibrahim Khan emphasised that while the restoration of peace, eradication of terrorism, and protection of citizen life and property remain non-negotiable imperatives, JI unequivocally rejects the suspension of the elected provincial government. He described the imposition of emergency rule and governor’s rule as unconstitutional and anti-democratic measures.

KP Governor Visits to Al-Markaz-ul-Islami

Professor Ibrahim Khan reiterated JI’s commitment to peaceful, democratic, and constitutional engagement. He warmly welcomed KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, who visited the provincial headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami, Al-Markaz-ul-Islami, in Peshawar. Further, he stated that despite security challenges, conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa did not justify invoking Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution to suspend the elected assembly. Reassuring that counter-terrorism remains a shared responsibility of federal and provincial authorities, he noted that any federal reservations regarding the provincial government’s performance should have been resolved through direct political and inter-party dialogue rather than executive suspension.

Protecting Constitutional Integrity and Evaluating Counter-Terrorism Impact

Inayatullah Khan, Amir JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North and former Senior Minister, raised concern over the province’s current administrative fragmentation, noting that emergency rule in 12 districts alongside governor’s rule across the remaining province undermines Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s constitutional unity. He reaffirmed JI’s view that the merged tribal districts are an integral part of the province, opposing any measures that seek to alter this administrative framework against public consent.

Concurrently, Abdul Waseeq, Amir JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Central, voiced opposition to military operations that cause widespread civilian displacement and destroy local economic infrastructure. He called for a transparent review of past operations to address why long-term stability has remained elusive despite substantial sacrifices, advocating for the armed forces to focus primarily on border defence while relinquishing civilian administrative roles.
