ISLAMABAD — In a milestone move designed to ease the financial burden on media professionals, the National Press Club Islamabad (NPC) has forged a strategic partnership with Roots Millennium Schools to provide substantial educational subsidies for journalists’ children nationwide.
Under the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), dependents of NPC members will receive a 50 per cent discount on admission fees, 20 per cent off monthly tuition fees, and a 50 per cent reduction on security deposits.
The formal signing ceremony took place at the NPC headquarters in Islamabad, led by NPC President Abdur Razzaq Sial and Dr Faisal Mushtaq, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Roots Millennium Schools.

Roots Millennium Supporting the Pillars of Democracy
Addressing the gathering, NPC President Abdur Razzaq Sial commended the school network’s leadership for supporting press workers who often operate under challenging economic conditions.
“Every parent wishes to provide quality education to their children, and this generous concession from one of Pakistan’s premier educational networks is a commendable step towards the welfare of our members,” Sial stated.
NPC Secretary Dr Furqan Rao emphasised that the concessions must extend across all 75 Roots Millennium campuses, ensuring equal access for journalists residing outside the federal capital.
Dr Faisal Mushtaq reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to social responsibility, highlighting the crucial role journalists play in upholding public awareness and democratic values.
“Education must not be viewed merely as a business but as a vital service to society,” Dr Mushtaq remarked. “Supporting the families of those who serve the public interest is a natural extension of our mission.”
Roots Millennium’s Four Decades of Educational Evolution
Reflecting on the network’s journey, Dr Mushtaq noted that the institution began nearly 40 years ago in Rawalpindi with just 40 students. Today, Roots Millennium Schools operates 75 campuses nationwide, offering early childhood through to higher education.
In line with Business Café’s ongoing coverage of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and educational development, this partnership underscores a growing model of public-private collaboration designed to support frontline media professionals.
Beyond conventional academics, the network integrates modern technology, STEM education, robotics, foreign languages, and sports:
- Digital Integration: Laptops are provided to pupils in Grades Six through Eight to enhance digital literacy.
- Balanced Pedagogy: Despite the rise of AI tools and online learning, the institution maintains that digital tools cannot replace human mentorship, parental guidance, and classroom social development.
- Broader Reach: Discounts will also extend to selected sister educational brands under the group, with specific terms tailored by campus and programme.
The ceremony concluded with senior NPC office-bearers, including Finance Secretary Abid Abbasi, Joint Secretary Shakeela Jalil, Syed Zaigham Naqvi, and Nasir Aslam Raja, expressing optimism that this long-term alliance will secure a brighter, more accessible academic future for media families.
Roots Millennium: Evolution and Journey
Founded in Rawalpindi in April 1988 by Mrs Riffat Mushtaq, the institution began with an uncommon premise: delivering inquiry-based, learner-centred education measured against global standards. Initially established as the Roots School System, the enterprise was designed to cultivate critical thinkers rather than passive learners.
Under the leadership of Dr Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq, this founding concept evolved into The Millennium Education Group, expanding into a nationwide network of campuses spanning all provinces, Islamabad, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Today, it remains one of Pakistan’s premier educational institutions, integrating international qualifications and modern pedagogy across all learning levels.
